What is actually the purpose of hair? Hair can be found all over human body, except for the palms of hands and at the soles of feet. The purpose of hair is protective. The hairs on the body keeps a person warm, nose hairs prevent dust and dirt from entering the respiratory system, and eyebrows prevent sweat from entering the eyes. Pubic hair actually serves several purposes. It's primary purpose is to trap pheremones which is an odorous substance or smell secreted by an organism which sexually attracts and increases arousal in potential mates. Also in men it can trap air and therefore help regulate the temperature of the testicles, which is obviously important for men. The amount of hair we have is caused by the amount of the hormone testosterone, which floats around in our bloodstream. Males have more of this hormone than females. Though women have less of this hormone than men, we still have it and it enables us to grow hair on our heads, arm pits and pubic area. The amount of hair that you have is also determined by your genetics.

I think the other hair like pubic and armpit is to help you to prevent abrasions from rubbing your arm/legs on your body. If you ever tried to shave it and then you didn't use an anti-perspirant and then you walked around in hot weather all day your skin starts to feel uncomfortable in those places.
I think some humans have more hair than others just because of natural variation in the species.

we need hair on our bodies to keep us warm. in the earlier days, people used to go around naked, and they needed hair on their bodies for warmth. makes sense?
also, since we are mammals, and the same as animals, animals have lots of hair, so that could be another reason we have hair. we have some animal characteristics.

Anyway, eyelashes and brows keep debris out of your eyes; the hair on top of your head is to hold in your body's heat; pubic hair keeps debris out of the delicate skin in the pubic region.

As for clothes, clothing is relatively new on the scene! Humans did go naked or only had hair for a long while.
Some people seem to think that humans have always come dressed up like they are today, shoes, socks, under ware, pants/skirt blouse/shirt and hat!

Overly hairy people are called hirsute (her-soot). (don't make fun of your friends, now) Ever time you shave, thicker hair grows back out (not in number, each hair no longer has the fine point, makes it easier to see. Most all other country's women don't shave under arms or legs. Pubic hair 'protects' to a small extent and keeps out bugs and pollen, dirt and sand, but not whoever. Baldness is unpredictable.
