Do primates have curly genital hair like humans do? If so, why is the hair curly?

The reason pubic hair is curly is because that hair is flat (think ribbon.) When it grows out of the follicle, it naturally curls, the way a ribbon does when we run it through scissors.

Humans have pubic hair because it signals sexual maturity to potential mates. It just happens to be curly because of sex-related hormones.

Hope that helps.

We have pubic hair to keep warm. We have the most hair on parts we need to keep warmest. Our head and down there. I dont know any scientific answer as to why it curles, but I think curley hairs clump together in the same area better, while long straight hairs hang down.

Called pubic hairs because we get them at puberty.
