Do animals' hair lose color with age, or is this just humans?

When a person gets old, theyre hair becomes gray. Does this, or something similar, ever happen to a creature's fur?

Yes some animals do grey as they get older.

It is more obvious in Black haired animals.

You esp see it in Black poodles (all over body), Chocolate and black Labradors on their muzzle.

yes- my dog is getting older and her muzzle is turning gray. I doubt that an animal will totally change color though.

The animal can get flecks of grey throughout the body but the main area a dog goes grey is it muzzle.

yeah, siamese cats get darker... the face of a golden retriever gets white, and hair loss occurs.

I had a dog once that turned gray in spots when he was about 8, but none of my cats ever did.

As my lab has gotten older, the hair around her mouth has turned white and the hair on her face has lightened, so I would say yes.

Yes, I have a mini pin, pomerain mix. Hes 13 years old. His mussel has turned gray, many places on his face have turned gray and his coat on his body in places shows the bottom layer of fur, which is gray. Hes doing great otherwise.

Most dogs will get gray around their muzzle when they get older. Our 3 year old black affenpinscher mix is turning gray on her entire head %26amp; face already.

Well, my yorkie is only 11 weeks old and his hair is starting to turn silver, but his dad was all silver. I think it really depends on the breed. Our husky stayed the same color the whole time we had him.

Some animals do get some grey hair, but not to the extent the humans do.

Our dog has developed a lot more grey hairs as he has grown older and the hair on his muzzle, ears and belly are thining.

Birds can also loose the colour in their feathers and skin as they get older too.

You haven't seen an old dog with a grey face? Dog do get grey, usually it starts around their muzzle. Guinea pigs get darker with age. And i am not sure about any other animals, I have not noticed any color change with cats.
