Question on Human Rights.?

I live in Nigeria,it is a country rules with Democracy,a new set of president and governors were just elected in,in my state the governor has decided he wants to arrest an man who does not dress well,i.e tattos, braiding his hair e.t.c and they have been arresting people just for this reason.

This is so wrong,we are an educated country,i need to know where i can contact all major Human rights organisation to report this, please help.

Question on Human Rights.?

Here is a list of international human rights organizations and resources: http://www.hrweb.org/resource.html

Question on Human Rights.?

Seriously, if people want to dress that way that's their issue. It shouldn't be against the law.

Question on Human Rights.?

I would suggest to make appointment with your governor before you contact human rights organizations. It is always proper to dialog first in your own place and speak what you think needs explanations or adjustments before you report and ask help from others, "for charity begins at home." TRY...

Question on Human Rights.?

Even if this decision was made through a democratic process, it's still imposing idea of majority to minority, and is not right but it happens in many countries in different levels and ways even in the most democratic countries there is some level of this and there was much more before, imagine that even drinking was illegal for a decade in USA! so we have to consider different standards for different countries and cultures but we have to try to improve the situation with respect to their culture, otherwise we will see a backlash.

I suggest to you that you try by democratic means to talk to your people through media, talk to influential people, parties, .... A democracy needs efforts and patience, you have to change your society and public opinion and it takes time and energy, people in advanced countries did the same thing and there was nobody from outside to help them and they gained it step by step. You can ask for help from outside but I don't think that this help changes deeply and permanently your society.
