Is dying a dog's hair any worse than dying a humans?

Today I saw a dog with pink hair on the top of its head and, at first, I was outraged. But then I thought... is it really that bad for the dog to dye its hair when it's relatively harmless for humans? Why the outrage?

It is not bad and does not hurt the animal. After all, alot of hair dye companies test on animals, as horrid as it sounds.

they have pet hair dye, or use kool aid. i think it's cute, and if mine didn't have such short, dark brown hair, he'd be dyed too.

Well i wouldn't do it, but there are lots of people out there that do. You can buy special dye for dogs. People dye is much to strong for there skin.

Most products used for dying dog hair are meant for humans, dogs have a differ hair PH so it can result in skin problem

other problem is the chemical can leach through the skin and potentially result in skin cancers European studies are showing higher incidences of cancer in women that use hair dyes http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/healt...

Only occasional Kool aid is used but only lasts a couple days and bleeds and does not produce the bright shocking colours, their is only one product so for made exclusively for dogs and is made in Japan still hard to obtain in the US made by Pet Esthe

Manic Panic is the most common product used in dyeing dogs which it a human product

It was probably the kind that washes out. Like the stuff the kids use to be punk. Not much different than people putting bows in the hair. I dye my hair..I've never seen pink in permanent dye

you can't use human dyes... safely on dogs.

animal testing of hair dyes is NOT done on dogs, it's done on rabbits. Dogs skin/coat is much more sensative.

There are certain dyes made specifically for dogs.. they come out of Asia.

otherwise you can use vegetable dyes, kool aid, or even gelatin. They are all harmless and they wash out very easily.
